Luke wound up sleeping for 16 hours and felt much better on Saturday morning as we left for the youth conference. Debbie was also better and came with us giving us a complete team. We arrived and prepared for the activities and sessions. There were around 80 young people who came to the full-day youth conference. The day was divided into times for sessions and activities. After the first session which dealt with Pride and Brokeness, we divided the group into groups of ten people each and went to the third floor for the activity times. The teams were given six tasks to try to complete throughout the day by working together and encouraging one another. Each of the team members assisted by running one of the activities and attempting to communicate the rules to each of the teams.

The second session dealt with how to interact with authorities. We all have authorities in our lives no matter our age and we need to learn to properly submit to authority as a demonstration of our submission to God. When we completed the second session, lunch was served to all the participants.

The next two sessions dealt with living a Disciplined Life. Between each of those sessions, the groups continued their attempts to complete the tasks. They seemed to all have fun and were attentive to the lessons. After the final session which dealt with Leadership, we handed out some prize packs which included some candy from the States and a tract.

When we came with my Achilles injury, I new that this day would be the most challenging so I had acquired a stool to use for the day. Unfortunately, I had forgotten to bring it along with us on this day. By the end of the day, my feet were very tired. We did not have anything planned for the evening however, so I was able to prop my feet up for a couple of hours and then felt much better.

After the fourth session, when we dismissed the teams upstairs for the last activity time, one of the girls who had come to the conference remained in her seat with her head bowed and seemed like she was praying. I let her pray but remained downstairs to see if she needed anything. After she was done praying, she came up to me and told me that she needed to leave early but that the conference had been beneficial as it had caused her to reflect on how she was living her life. It is encouraging to here how God can use us when we allow Him to do so. Thank you for all your prayers as you are a part of any results that are achieved through our ministry here in Peru.
