We arrived a little early and met some of the student leaders and school administration before the presentation. The students then lined up in the court yard for our presentation. We had from kindergarten all the way to high school in the courtyard. After singing the songs and doing our skits, I was able to share the gospel with them. They were attentive to what we had to share and seemed that some may have taken what we were saying to heart.
After our presentation, the school had prepared a preparation of their own. They gave us a couple of souvenirs and then a trio of high school girls sang a song for us in English, followed by one of the girls singing a typical Peruvian song. Afterwards, one of the elementary classes also sang a couple of songs for us.
We then were ushered into one of the classrooms where we met with the graduating class. They had a chance to ask questions and give us a chance to share with them why we were doing what we do and why our jackets have the name "The Broken" with a picture of the 10 commandments. We were able to talk about how we have all broken the law and need to be broken, humbled, in the presence of God.
When we were ready to leave, the administration wanted a few pictures with us (pictures with students, teachers, administration, etc). We were able to establish a good rapport and were invited back to play volleyball with their school team on Tuesday.
The rest of the day was spent at the Vida Nueva Baptist Church helping hang a tarp over the second floor so it could be used for the children's programs and painting the main auditorium.
That evening we went to a church for a presentation. It was a small church and we started with a handful of people but they continued to arrive as we sang several songs. We shared with them some helpful methods for witnessing to others and that it is our responsibility to share the gospel where we are as well as on foreign lands.
