The volleyball tournament was scheduled to start at 8:00 am. I guess in the future we will just need to plan on starting any tournaments later than that. We finally did start around 10:30 am. Though the tournament was not as well organized as last week, we still had around 70 unsaved people that came to the tournament and listened to a gospel presentation.
After the presentation, I had the opportunity to go to visit with some friends I had not seen for at least 10 years. It was across town so I had to get a taxi to take me there. My throat had been bothering me for the last day so I just sat quietly for the first 5 minutes but then we started talking. We talked about the soccer World Cup for about 5 minutes and then started talking about spiritual things. I took him through the "Good person" test and answered many of his questions. He says that he is confused about all the different religions that are out there and that he has friends that are atheists and agnostics and an aunt who is Budhist. Please pray for God to work in his life.
After spending a few hours with Andy Pace, Steve Frericks, Steve Pace, and Jody Allen (some of my high school friends) it was time to head back home. Another taxi ride and another witnessing opportunity. We stopped at a gas station and I bought a Sprite as I would not have been able to talk much without it. I also bought one for the taxi driver. He seemed appreciative of the kind gesture and we began to talk. He asked about the school where I came from and I told him it was a Christian school. I then asked him if he was religious and he told me that I would take the Sprite away from him if he answered me honestly. I convinced him that I the Sprite was his no matter what he had to say. He told me that he used to believe but since God had not answered his prayers, he no longer believed in God or at least that God cared about us. I told him that God does care but that many times we believe that God owes us something and that we deserve that He gives us what we ask. I then took him through the "good person" test to show how if we see our sinful nature in the same way that God sees it, we will be grateful for anything God gives us as we deserve nothing more than death and hell. He appeared to be listening and thinking about what I was saying. Only God knows if the seed that was planted will grow.
When I arrived home, we organized an expedition out to look for a pharmacy to get some aloe vera for Ryan and Joy as they had gotten sunburned during the day. We were also on the hunt for Churros, a Peruvian pastry. We found both and then returned home to relax.
