The schedule for going to schools in Ventanilla was changed since the area is having water trouble and many of the schools were closed. We were able to schedule a private school about a block from the house where we are staying. We must have been tired as our presentation seemed to lack energy. However, the director of the school thanked us for the presentation and invited us to come back if we ever have another opportunity.
In the afternoon, we walked around some handing out flyers for our Friday evening and Sunday services. We also went to the site where we would be hosting the volleyball tournament on Saturday to make sure that we had everything that we needed.
As we had some extra time throughout the day, we watched a couple of the World Cup soccer games. Though Chris would make fun of soccer when we first came to Peru, he is turning into quite the soccer fan. The guys like making fun of some of the commercials and also timing how long the announcer yells "Goal." The longest so far is 17 seconds with the shortest one being 9 seconds.
We did still go to Ventanilla that night for a church presentation. Since the church was emphasizing topics on the family, I talked about some practical aspects of raising our kids and how to win them to Christ. Sarah gave her testimony. After the service, the church had prepared several Peruvian dished as a pot-luck and invited us to try some of the different foods. Some were a bit exotic but there was also many good things to eat. Andrea and Joy enjoyed trying to make me paranoid about sitting in a certain chair even though they now claim that there was nothing wrong with the chair.
