We left the house at  8:30 to go to a church in a poorer side of Lima. We assisted in preparing the foundation for the walls of a new classroom. While the guys dug out the trenches of at least 3 feet depth, the girls tied the rebar together to make the frame for the column. Once the girls finished the rebar jobs, they also helped cutting letters out for Romans 6:23 that would be used to decorate the walls of the main auditorium.

Many tasks that would normally be accomplished quickly with machinery or other technology in the United States are done by hand. Since you will always spend either time or money, Americans generally spend the money to save time. Here, money is scarce so we spend the time to do things by hand.

After cleaning up (and boy did some of them need it), we went to a public school where we had the opportunity to talk to the graduating class. We talked about making choices about the future. As we plan for what we are going to do after high school and as we prepare for it, have we prepared for our eternity? Our time with the class was short but we will be having a chance to talk to them again as part of the whole secondary on Wednesday evening where we will have the opportunity for a more complete gospel presentation.

We then returned home to get some food, review the happenings of the day, and get some rest for the next day.
