After the presentation, we packed up and headed out to work with another local pastor who had arranged for us to be able to make our presentation in two private schools that were on the same street as his church. When we arrived at the first school, there was not a room large enough for all the secondary to attend our presentation. They were willing, however, to send the students over to the church building where we were able to seat them all and have the presentation. As a private school, most of the students were probably not saved, but we had a good opportunity to present the gospel to them through the songs, skits, and gospel presentation which is based on the "Good Person Test." We talk about moral values and the greatest standard of moral law which is the Ten Commandments. Once we realize that we have broken them all, we then can realize that we need Christ. After we finished, the director of the school, thanked us and told the students that what we had shared was very important for them to learn.
We then went around to the other side of the street to the entrance of the school and went in to setup for the next presentation. We had been scheduled to be there from 12 until 1. We started at 12:30 and were told that we had 35 minutes (we usually prefer 45 minutes). As we went through the program and shortened it a little bit, we were still able to present a strong gospel message. When I ended right at 1:05, the person in charge of the assembly told me to keep going for another 5 minutes. So I told them a story which reiterated how we need to head our conscience when it warns us of the sins that we are committing. After we were done, the school also thanked us for the presentation and told us that we would be welcome back any time in the future.
As we were now a little later than anticipated, we returned home for lunch. The ladies that have been cooking for us have done an excellent job. We returned home to fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, and rice (of course). Except for the rice, this is not a Peruvian meal but they were trying to give us some variety and they knew that my mom had made that for us in previous years. They have taken very good care of us.
We had an opportunity to relax for a couple of hours and get a little rest or teach Joseph, the 7-year-old boy who lives in the house where we are staying, how to throw a baseball. He seemed to really enjoy it as did Chris and Luke. Daniel also got a chance to spend some time with him. Daniel especially has been enjoying getting to meet so many new people and experience so many new things.
We returned to the church where we had been in the morning to meet the pastor to go out and hand out some tracts and invite people to the church. We were then invited to the pastor's home where we were served an excellent dinner of grilled chicken and fries. The food tasted very good, but the portions were very large (which means that Luke was definitely full after this one).
The church then had its evening service. I had been expecting it to be more for Christians, but there were several students who came from the schools where we had made our presentations earlier in the day. We changed some of our program to make it more evangelistic in nature to share with them the gospel once more while at the same time encouraging believers to witness to others.
After the service and some time to talk to the people, we returned home for the day.
