Peru is a country with nearly 28 million people, 38% of which are under 18 years of age. Of the 28 million, over 9 million of them live in the metropolitan area of Lima.

About the time that I came back to the United States to go to college, the Christian school movement in Lima, began to flourish. The government made it easier to start private schools and in response to the poor  public schools system  and as a ministry outreach, many churches started their own schools.

Though the Christian school movement has grown over the years, most of their teachers have been trained in secular schools with worldly methods and philosophy of education. The schools also resort to using secular curriculum or are forced to come up with their own as affordable, Christian alternatives are scarce.
